Some of the deliveries you make with Sherpa will be fragile items. They might be a large bunch of flowers, cakes, glassware, or another item that requires extra attention to detail when delivering!
If an item has been marked fragile by a customer, you will see this in the Driver App when you accept the booking. You can read more knowing if an item is fragile by clicking here.
To avoid damages when delivering fragile items, here's a quick guide on steps you can follow:
- Check the item at time of pick up. Be sure the item is in suitable condition to be delivered. If you notice any visible damage at time of pick up, be sure to let the customer know. They may want to switch it out for another item.
- Place the item in a safe place in your vehicle where it won't move around. This could be in the footwell of the passenger seat, or on the ground in the backseat. Leaving the item in the boot where it can easily move around may lead to damages when driving.
- Carry the item with care. If you're delivering flowers, be sure to hold them upright and from the stems. If the items are a cake, cupcakes or another fragile dessert, make sure you hold them flat and support the box from the bottom.
- Leave the items in a safe space. If the recipient isn't available and you have ATL (Authority to Leave), be sure to locate a safe and practical location for the items. For example, if you're delivering flowers or baked goods, do not leave them in the direct sunlight.
Remember, as a Sherpa driver, any damages that occur while in transit. If the goods on arrival are not in a fit state, we may subtract the cost of the goods from your next payment.
