There is an unsafe situation at the delivery location. What do I do?

  • Updated

If you arrive at the delivery location and there is a dog on the premises or any other unsafe situation, we ask Sherpa drivers to put their safety first.

Depending on the situation, here are some suggested actions:

Recipient Is Home
If the recipient is home, please call them and explain to them you cannot enter their property due to your safety ask them to come to the door/gate.

Recipient Is Not Home
If the recipient is not home and you don't feel safe entering the premises, do everything possible to try to deliver the item without putting your safety at risk. This can include:

  • Call the recipient - Ask what they would like to do. Can you deliver to a neighbour or different address?

  • Call the client - If the recipient doesn't answer or you do not have their number, contact the client. See if they can get hold of the client or ask what they would like you to do.

  • Contact Sherpa - If you cannot get ahold of either the recipient or client, please contact us and we will assist you. You can contact us either by chat or phone. Once you are no longer in immediate danger, please send us a short chat message, so we can take note of what happened.

If you have been injured and want to lodge an insurance claim, please see Sherpa's Personal Accident Insurance FAQs.
