The Driver Personal Accident Insurance is no longer provided by Sherpa.
Overview
As of June 2025, Sherpa no longer provides Personal Accident Insurance for contractors or their sub-contractors. This includes coverage for injuries sustained while completing deliveries, as well as income protection and lump sum injury benefits.
We understand that insurance is an important consideration for all drivers and have provided guidance below on what this change means and how you can prepare.
What's changed?
- The previous group Personal Accident Insurance policy is no longer active.
- Sherpa does not currently provide injury or accident insurance coverage for drivers or sub-contractors operating on the platform.
- Claims can no longer be submitted under the previous policy.
What do I need to do?
We strongly encourage all drivers and sub-contractors to consider private Personal Accident Insurance to protect themselves in the event of injury while working. This may include:
- Income protection during periods of incapacity.
- Lump sum payouts for serious injuries.
- Coverage while travelling to and from work.
You may wish to consult an independent insurance broker or compare providers online to find a policy that suits your needs.
What if I'm injured during a delivery?
If you are injured while completing a Sherpa delivery:
1. Call 000 immediately in the event of a serious or life-threatening emergency
2. Once safe, notify the Sherpa Support Team so we can assist and log the incident
3. If another party is involved (e.g., motor accident), exchange contact details and take clear photos if possible.
4. Your private insurance provider will be the appropriate channel for lodging a claim.
Please note: Sherpa is not able to assist with insurance claims under the previous policy.
