Top tips for completing your Sherpa Driver Onboarding

  • Updated

We're delighted you've chosen to join the thousands of others driving and earning with us.

We understand onboarding can seem tedious, but we promise you’ll love the autonomy and flexibility of working as a Sherpa driver.

Here are our recommendations for a smooth application process:

Take your time

If you have everything ready, your application should take around 45m - 1hr to complete.

Allow yourself the time to read each screen, and input and upload information and documents carefully.

Get organised

Each step of our onboarding flow collects the information we need to assess your application. Only completed applications will be reviewed by our team. Having everything ready will save you time and get your profile reviewed quicker.

Equipment needed:

  • A desktop or laptop computer to complete you application - you will be unable to do this on your mobile phone
  • Microphone and camera to complete your video interview
  • Access to upload the required documentation from the computer you are completing the application on
  • Access to your email - we'll send you step by step information at different stages of your application

Application form information requirements:

  • An email address to receive documentation and account information from Sherpa
  • A valid Australian mobile phone numbe
  • A clear photo of yourself ready to upload to your application - see our photo tips here
  • Vehicle registration number and expiry date for the vehicle you'll be using to drive with us
  • Account name, BSB number and Account number for your Australian bank account
  • An Active ABN (Australian Business Number). Learn how to obtain an ABN here.
Note that if you are applying under a company name or trust, additional information may be requested of you. We'll reach out if we need more details.

Documents to upload:

  • A valid Australian or International Driver's Licence – clearly showing your photo and licence details. See rules about international licences here.
  • A valid Australian Police Check – You can apply for this during the document upload process, or you can upload your own. Learn more background checks here.
  • A valid Australian Work Rights document – You will be prompted to complete this during the document upload process. Learn more background checks here.
  • Proof of valid vehicle insurance for the vehicle you will be using for deliveries. Note that if the address details on your insurance papers differ from your licence or signup address, additional information may be requested. We'll reach out if we need more details.

In some states, extra documentation is required for alcohol delivery so you may also wish to have them at hand:

Choose a quiet environment for your video interview

You’ll need to do a short guided video to introduce yourself, so please ensure you're in a quiet environment with a suitable background.

Note that your application will not be reviewed until your video has been submitted.

Be patient and polite

Our support team has a large number of applications to review. If you get stuck and can't find the information you need from our Onboarding FAQ's, the next best way to get assistance with onboarding is via our Driver Support chat (Accessed when you're logged into the onboarding screen, or from the Sherpa website).
